Leon RussellA True Music Legend.....The Wizard and many other music lovers have always felt that without Leon , Joe Cocker's Mad Dogs And Englishmen Tour might have gone in a different direction......The Wizard recommends LEON LIVE as his favorite CD.... I was also live at the Hampton Roads Arena when he came to play....one of the memories of the show was vivid cause a friend of mine was arrested for pot and they had just started on Jumpin'Jack Flash , as the narc hauled him away....we went to see if we could bail him out quickly....no way , and the police ran out of handcuffs and had to use disposable plastic ones....The Wizard attempted to let the Police know ,of his disdain , that those hardened pot tokin' criminals weren't dangerous enuff for the real Smith & Wesson cuffs....unfortunately The Wizard's sense of justice and humor was not ignored by the powers that be....The Wizard was advised to return to his seat or join my brother Doobie and Leon lovers ! Other occassions The Wizard caught this rock legend in smaller venues with great opening acts....Richie Furay being one and Elvin Bishop ( who incidentally was fired right after the show in Baton Rouge for upstaging Leon And Mary Russell on their Honeymoon tour )....I hate to admit this but it was true on this tour....Leon was good but not himself with his beautiful wife , on stage with him !!!!
