I had the priveledge to jam with him at the Ivanhoe on Bourbon St. when he sat in with SUGARDADDY a local band full of extrordinary musicians,many of who went on to bigger gigs with many famous stars.

Professor LonghairMardi Gras coming up soon and I thought a few blogs on some of the legends of New Orleans music would be in order.Even though I prefer New Orleans at Jazz & Heritage Festival,but there's nothin' like your first Fat Tuesday celebration there. The Fess also was known as "The Bach Of Rock". I had the pleasure of seeing him many times when I resided in the BIG EASY in the 70's. He was a musicians' musician.

Login | Fleetwoodmac.comI was lucky enough to catch them in their original state in concert in Virginia Beach,Va.....pre-Buckingham Nicks -whose album became kind of their audition for the band.Its a great collector's item on its own.Truly a great line up of music over the many years they've been rocking !!!!!

Time to put up a Dead album cover of one of their best albums.I myself was more into seeing them live then listening to the albums.I worked in New Orleans when they got busted at the hotel on Tolouse St.My favorite song remains TOUCH OF GREY.The Dead's greatest accomplishment in the Wizard's opinion was the fact that at the concerts ,of which there were many,they played for the people like no other band.They put on a party everytime !!!!!  

Just thought this was a very colorful pic and I do like colorful things!! 

Surely their best album,a real shame they had to change their name to Chicago because of the mayor supposedly!!

possibly the best album ever at least in some folks opinion.I will not cast an opinion on this since it is one of my favorites but to name anything as the best is too opinionated!!! even for the WIZARD!!!!!

George CarlinJust thought I'd throw in a comedy site for one of the greatest thinking man's comedians of our time.My old friend in New Orleans and Steamboat, Steve Metaxa looked alot like him and we enjoyed a fabulous night at Shotgun Willie's GO-GO Bar in Denver or is it Glendale a long time ago thanks to Steve being mistaken for George. So thanks for the comedy George and we miss you Steve !!!
